Our Staff
Dr. Paul K. Carlson is a 1972 graduate of the Cornell Veterinary
College. A Chautauqua County native, he graduated from Cassadaga Valley
Central School. He moved to Dunkirk and opened the Dunkirk Animal Clinic
in 1976. He built the current animal hospital in 1986 to accommodate the
growth of the practice. Dr. Carlson has a strong interest in surgery,
dentistry and ophthalmology. He and his wife Roseann reside in the town
of Dunkirk. They have 3 grown children, 5 grandsons, and their first
granddaughter.
Dr. Rebekah R. Frost is one of our Associate Veterinarians. She is a
2005 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary
Medicine. She has had over two years clinical experience at the Russell
Veterinary Hospital in Russell, PA. She has a strong interest in
surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics. Dr. Frost resides near
Sinclairville with her husband Daryl, son Caden, and new daughter
Mikenna. Her pets include three horses, 1 dog, and three cats.
Dr. J Joseph Bache is also an Associate Veterinarian at our
hospital. Dr. Bache is a 2004 graduate of Ross University School of
Veterinary Medicine. He spent his first year as a veterinarian with the
Dunkirk Animal Clinic and now has rejoined the Clinic after spending
three years practicing on Long Island, NY. He lives in Dunkirk with his
wife Blair, daughter Hazel, son John and their 3 dogs and 4 cats.
Dr. Blair V. Powell is the newest Associate Veterinarian at the Dunkirk
Animal Clinic. She graduated from Ross University in 2005, completing
her clinical year at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary
Medicine. Prior to moving to Dunkirk, Dr. Powell practiced as an
emergency veterinarian at the Animal Emergency Services on Long Island,
NY. She still has a great interest in emergency medicine. Currently she
living in Dunkirk with her husband, 2 children, 3 dogs and 4 cats.
Cheryl is a Licensed Veterinary Technician and a 1983 graduate of
SUNY @ Delhi's Veterinary Technology program. She lives in Cassadaga,
NY, with her husband, three children, and their dog, Gracie, and cats,
Gilligan, Daisy, and Milo. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at
her daughter's school, reading, and spending time with family and
friends.
Cindy is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who is a 2003
graduate of Medaille College. She has been working at the Dunkirk Animal
Clinic since graduating from college. She lives in Farnham with her
husband, one dog and two cats. She enjoys her pets, reading and
crafts.
Kath has been our Surgical Assistant for 17 years. Aside from all
things feline, her interests include gardening, crafts and collecting
cookbooks. She lives in Jamestown with her husband Jerry and her cat
Lizzie.
Michele is our receptionist. She attended JCC and Fredonia State
College. She enjoys breeding her dogs and visiting her daughter,
son-in-law, and grandchildren in Virginia. She lives in Irving with her
husband, Phil and son, Justin and their 4 Shelties, 1 Yorkie, and 2 cats.
Roseann is our Business Manager. She has been with the Dunkirk
Animal Clinic for 31 years. She enjoys reading, traveling, and doing
genealogy. She also enjoys spending time with her children and six grandchildren.
She lives in Dunkirk with her husband.
Linda is our Office Manager, and has been with our Clinic for
22 years. She attended Jamestown Business College and lives in Dunkirk.
She enjoys camping and spending time with her husband and daughter, and
their cat K.C..
Jessica is a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She received her
Veterinary Technician degree in 2007 and a 2008 Bachelors degree in
Biology from Medaille College. She enjoys spending her spare time with
her two yellow labs, Chance and Logan, her Beagle Clark and her cat
Boston.
Mary is one of our Animal Caretakers. A native of Pennsylvania,
she graduated from Penn State with two degrees in the environmental
field. She lives in Fredonia with her 2 dogs and 2 cats. Mary greatly
enjoys the outdoors and international travel.
Cami is one of our animal caretakers and clinic assistants. She
lives in Fredonia with her son Luca. She enjoys caring, feeding and
grooming the pets and assisting around the clinic.
Amy is one of our Animal Caretakers. She graduated High School with
Honors, loves working and being with the animals and one day hopes to
run her own kennel and grooming parlor. She enjoys spending time with
her 3 cats, 2 dogs and pet bird.
Indy is our newest addition to the clinic. He is a young and
rambunctious orange tabby. He enjoys running on top of the files,
playing with the printer and his toy mice. He also enjoys greeting any
new patient whether it be dog or cat, large or small.
Bigfoot (aka Toes)
The staff of the Dunkirk Animal Clinic is saddened to announce the
passing of Bigfoot from complications of liver disease. He was found as
an injured stray kitten in 1993 and had been at the clinic ever since as
our official greeter and mascot. He was a happy, curious, and sometimes
mischievous cat who was blessed with 26 toes. Over the years, thousands
of clients and patients got to know him. He had a good life and was
well loved.
The Lake Shore Humane Society is accepting donations in his memory to
help other stray, abandoned or disadvantaged pets. They can be contacted
